Event Details

The Houston Chapter of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) invites you to join us on Thursday, December 10 for our monthly meeting.

Matt Simmons will speak on Oil and Water: Which Could Become More Scarce?

On popular demand, Matt Simmons returns to IAEE Houston Chapter for its December event.  His presentation will focus on the often forgotten key role which water plays in creating usable oil and, for that matter, almost all other forms of modern energy.  He will enlighten us about how little the world knows of the remaining usable freshwater we have left – and how critical it is for sustaining energy production.  Discussions will also include issues with economics and availability of water usage for the super hot gas shale plays.

Last year, our event featuring him was a sold out event and we had to close our registration early.  Early registration for this event is highly encouraged.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Matthew R. Simmons is Chairman Emeritus of Simmons & Company International, a specialized energy investment banking firm.  The firm has completed approximately 785 investment banking projects for its worldwide energy clients at a combined dollar value in excess of $140 billion.

In 2007, Mr. Simmons founded The Ocean Energy Institute in Mid-Coast Maine.  The Institute’s focus is to research and create renewable energy sources from all aspects of our oceans.
